The following is a step-by-step guide to successfully apply for SME Fund '23 funding.

By applying for the SME Fund 2023, you have the opportunity to apply for a patent/utility model. The patent can be expertly examined by an authorized body (IP scan). The funding also includes support for trademark applications in the EU based on Trademark registration Let's go into more detail below.

The maximum amounts eligible for reimbursement per SME are:

• Up to: 1,350 euros for activities related to IP Scan
• Up to: 1,000 euros for activities related to brands and designs

These amounts are always highest possible refund amount in connection with the trademark application.
‍Example: If you submit an invoice for €1,000, you will be refunded 90% or 75% of the fees incurred.

Step 1: Call the Application website of the authority and click on: “Make an application now”

Step 2: “Select the applicant for the SME Fund”

If you have never signed up for EUIPO before, select NO here. If you fill out the application yourself, please select “Legal entity or natural person” here.

Step 3: Create Your Account [Important]

To avoid an error message when creating the account, a number must be added to the user name. The user name does not necessarily have to be the name of the company.

Step 4: Company details and upload of VAT ID and bank account

To avoid subsequent error messages or subsequent submissions in this section, it is recommended to upload the VAT tax office certificate (VAT-ID) and an account statement.

Step 5: Managing Applications

Within your account, you can now apply for several legal entities at CREATE NEW SME submit. Each company is listed under Company Name listed. By clicking on the company (here: metaprice GmbH), you can later view the status of the authority's processing.

Step 6: The application for the respective legal entity

You can now create and manage separate applications for each company specified in step 5.

Step 7: Selection of funding

Depending on whether you need an IP scan or want trademark protection, you can make the appropriate selection here. At this point, you can cache or continue with the information you have entered as shown in step 8.

Step 8: Almost done, save and submit the request

Finally, just save and send the information you have provided. Within a processing time of approx. 15 days, you will receive an email from the SME Fund about an approval or rejection. Rejections usually result from incorrect information or incorrect documents. In most cases, missing information can be submitted within a period of 7 days.
