Amazon VISA Credit Card: A Comprehensive Overview

Customers of e-commerce giant Amazon have the option of applying for a credit card via their account, which can be used not only for purchases on Amazon sites, but also for other transactions. The Amazon credit card is essentially a conventional VISA card, which is offered in cooperation with Landesbank Berlin (LBB).

Amazon credit card variants

The Amazon credit card is available in two variants: The Amazon Prime credit card, which is free for Prime members, and the normal Amazon VISA credit card, which charges from the second year of use.

VISA card benefits

When applying for the normal Amazon credit card for the first time, customers receive a one-time credit of 30 euros. The card is free of charge for the first year of use, after which there are fees of 19.99 euros. The card also offers a bonus program: Customers receive two bonus points for every full euro spent on Amazon and one point for every full euro spent outside Amazon.

Amazon Prime Credit Card Benefits

Prime customers can use the card free of charge and also receive a credit of 30 euros upon initial application. In addition to the bonus program, Prime customers receive more bonus points per turnover, namely three points for every full euro on Amazon and one point for every full euro outside Amazon.

Amazon (Prime) credit card conditions

To receive the Amazon credit card, customers must be at least 18 years old and registered in Germany. A SEPA bank account from the euro payment area is required, while a Prime membership is required for the Prime variant. A current account with Landesbank Berlin is not required.

Cancellation period and payment protection

You can cancel your Amazon credit card without a certain period of time. Customers must cancel the card in writing, accepting email, fax or letter. As an option, LBB offers payment protection that settles outstanding remaining debts in the event of unemployment, incapacity for work or death.

Cash withdrawal costs and other offers

Cash withdrawal using the Amazon VISA credit card is not free and charges apply if there is no sufficient balance. There is also a foreign currency fee outside the euro area. In addition to the VISA card, Amazon also offers other credit card options from various providers such as Barclaycard and Hanseatic Bank.
