Amazon: Remember the deadline for product safety information

Amazon urges its marketplace sellers to comply with the new product safety regulations in due time. Anyone who does not comply with the requirements must expect severe consequences.

In the last quarter of the year, online retailers must adapt to new legal requirements: On December 13, 2024, in the midst of the high-turnover pre-Christmas period, the European Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) comes into force. This regulation is intended to ensure that products sold in the EU meet certain safety standards. Affected retailers are therefore required to comply with new information requirements and, among other things, to carry out a risk analysis.

The industry has been discussing these changes for a few months. Amazon has now also called on its marketplace sellers, who offer non-food in EU stores, to meet the deadline and ensure that all requirements are met.

New area on the product detail page

Amazon has added a new section to the product detail pages to meet these requirements. This is called “Security and Product Resources.”

According to a message in SellerCentral, product images are now separated from compliance documents and information. “Your marketing images and product information are displayed here,” the message to sellers says. Retailers also have the opportunity to quickly check whether all necessary compliance information has been stored. This data is easily accessible not only to sellers but also to customers.
